The next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare now has a release date

The next Call of Duty is just around the corner, but the excitement is a little bit different this time around.

In order to release a new Call of Duty every year, a new annual iteration is developed by 1 of 3 studios that are in rotation.
One studio in particular, Infinity Ward, is arguably the most beloved for its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare line of titles.

The studio just released a teaser as well as dropped the release date for their next title: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

The game is a sequel to the most successful Call of Duty title to date: 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
The game will be released on October 28th, however speculators have suggested that a full trailer and gameplay details will be released months earlier.

On face value the release date of a game might seem like not a big deal, but this is different.

This will be the first Call of Duty game that will not be followed up by a new title next year, meaning this will be the newest game in the franchise for 2 years.
This comes from the fact that the last 2 Call of Duty games released in 2020 and 2021 "underperformed" in the eyes of the game's publisher.

Fans look to be extremely excited for the upcoming release, but it's best to approach with caution.

Infinity Ward has a generally good track record with quality Call of Duty games, however they have had some misses.
