New Video Game Hall of Fame inductees includes beloved classics

The Video Game Hall of Fame has announced its new inductees for 2022, and they seem to be picks that we all agree with.

New York is home to many famous museums, but The Strong National Museum of Play stands apart for toy enthusiasts and gamers.

Established in 1969, the museum houses exhibits that predominately theme video games, comic books, and more that interpret the key elements of play.
Specifically, the exhibit eGameRevolution is the first permanent video game exhibit in the U.S..

The exhibit also includes the World Video Game Hall of Fame, a celebration of history's most important games that adds inductees every year.

This year, four games were honoured that have stood the test of time as bonafide classics: 1998's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, 1982's Ms. Pac-Man, Dance Dance Revolution, and Sid Meier's Civilization.

Despite beating out a bunch of noteworthy contenders, it's hard to deny the deservedness of these titles.

Each are consistently in many "best game ever" lists and have become the benchmarks of their respective genres.

One commonality between all of these games is that they all have become huge gaming franchises.

These franchises have ultimately gone on to influence pop culture and have gone beyond the realm of the gaming industry.
